About A Kid And A Woman (later changed to About A Woman and A Kid) was a short scifi fantasy story that I wrote under my pen name around the same time I started selling screenprinted t-shirts with a slogan of mine, DESIRE HOPE DESPAIR.
I’m very appreciative of the fact that people like to buy things with my slogans on them, but at the time I wanted to draw more attention to the fiction I was proud of. So instead of promoting the shirt, I promoted the story, which cost $40 and came with a free shirt.
The story went on to become published in an award-winning anthology, and the shirt design went on to become many cool people’s absolute favorite tee, so much so that years later people were asking me to produce another run, as the original tees had been lost to exes or literally worn to pieces.
